United States denied the Houthis’ information about a successful attack on an American ship

The US military has denied information from the Yemeni rebel movement Ansar Allah (Houthis) about an attack on the Ocean Jazz cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden. The press service of the Fifth Fleet of the United States Navy announced this on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

“The Iran- backed Houthis’ report of an alleged successful attack on the M/V Ocean Jazz is patently false,” the statement said.

It also said the US military “maintained constant communication with the M/V Ocean Jazz during its safe passage” through the Strait of Aden.

On January 22 , Yahya Saria , a spokesman for the Yemeni rebel movement Ansar Allah , said that the Houthis attacked the Ocean Jazz cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden, identifying it as belonging to the US Navy.

Earlier, the Royal Navy’s UKMTO reported that a UK-flagged ship was attacked 85 nautical miles (157 km) from the Yemeni city of Al-Shihra.

Previously, the Houthis announced their intention to attack commercial ships in the Red Sea every 12 hours.
