Corona: Moderna makes vaccine fit for omicron subtypes

A booster for the booster: The US pharmaceutical company Moderna has presented an updated variant of its corona vaccine. The immunization, named mRNA-1273.214, not only targets the wild type corona, but also contains mRNA against the omicron variant B.1.

As the Pharmaceutical Newspaper reported on Thursday, the company has now presented data from a phase II/III study that confirms the effectiveness of the vaccine. In the study participants, for whom the new vaccine was the fourth vaccination, a strong immune response against the currently circulating omicron subtypes B.4 and B.5 could also be measured.
