After passing the medical check, Sadio Mané signed a three-year contract with FC Bayern Munich. The 30-year-old Senegalese is moving from Liverpool to the Isar and is scheduled to attack flexibly.

Nothing precise is known about the transfer modalities: without bonuses, the amount flowing to Liverpool should be less than 40 million euros. Liverpool had initially demanded almost 50 million euros for Africa’s footballer of the year, who led Senegal to the World Cup in Qatar.

Mané landed in Munich on Tuesday with a private plane and completed the medical check before signing the new contract on Wednesday afternoon. In the afternoon, the 30-year-old will be officially presented.

Hainer: “The fans come for such unique players”

“With Sadio Mané, an international top star is coming to FC Bayern, who has left his mark on world football. We are proud to have brought him to Munich,” said sports director Hasan Salihamidzic in a press release from the record champions.

President Herbert Hainer said: “Sadio Mané is a world star who underscores the appeal of FC Bayern and increases the attractiveness of the entire Bundesliga. The fans come to the stadiums for such unique footballers.”

Mané intensifies competition on the wings

Mané is planned for the record champions on the offensive wings, but can also act as a hanging tip, as he demonstrated in Liverpool. Mané scored 120 goals in 268 compulsory games for the “Reds”, a top rate. He also has the fastest hat-trick in the Premier League. That means: Leroy Sané, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry in particular have to worry about their place at Bayern Munich. In the case of the latter, talks about a contract extension are stalled. Not excluded that the German national player will leave the club.

On the other hand, Mané is not a full-fledged replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who is willing to emigrate.

Mané has been under contract with Liverpool since 2016. With the club coached by Jürgen Klopp, he won every title that can be won in the Premier League, including the Champions League in the 2018/19 season. In 2022 he secured the African Champion title with Senegal. Their previous stations were FC Southampton (2014 to 2016), FC Red Bull Salzburg (2012 to 2014) and FC Metz (2011/2012).
